Big Impact…Small Space

This condo makeover was for a 2 bedroom / 2 bathroom condo of approximately 1,200 square feet. This condo has an open floor plan so it’s important to select paint and furniture colors that compliment the open spaces. I chose warm neutral tones throughout the living room and into the kitchen and hallways. The before and after pictures shown below illustrate the transformation from the sterile builder-grade condo to a vibrant and contemporary home.

The granite countertop in the kitchen was upgraded from solid black to a neutral and lighter color. The sink was replaced with an under mount and new Kohler faucet. The look was finished with modern t-bar cabinet hardware. The counter tops are always free from clutter, which helps open up this small space and keep a clean look.

Space was saved in the living room by hanging the TV above the fireplace and concealing all electronic components in a buffet cabinet. A new modern nickel finish ceiling fan replaced the generic builder grade…

The master bedroom was designed in cool neutral tones. The artwork is from Z Gallerie, duvet set is from the Hotel Collection and the curtains and accent pillow are from West Elm. Lastly, the ceiling fan was updated with a modern brushed nickel finish.

The master bathroom was painted with warm tones, light accessories and updated t-bar cabinet hardware.

The second bedroom has a blue accent wall with overlapping industrial metal strips from CB2. The bedding and curtains are from Z Gallerie and furniture is from West Elm. The ceiling fan was was updated with a modern brushed nickel finish.

The inspiration for the second bathroom was mother nature, specifically aloe plants and bamboo. The canvas art was found on Overstock,  white towels from DKNY, plants, candle and accessories from Crate&Barrel, and the cabinet hardware was updated with t-bars.

Modern Fireplace Renovation

Are you looking for ideas how to modernize your fireplace? This project was a quick and simple way to update this space and took approximately one week to complete. In order to open up the room, the corner media center was removed and the walls were reset to the original setting. The traditional fireplace was completely demolished and replaced with a modern design, which consists of floor-to-ceiling veneer stacked stone and a linear fireplace with glass stones.

The stacked stone is by Eldorado Stone in the Chapel Hill finish, the fireplace is a Montigo L42 with a stainless steel frame, the customized mantel was built by JReal and a 55″ frame less ultra-thin Samsung TV was hung above the mantel.

The ceiling fan was removed and replaced with recessed lighting throughout the ceiling. In addition, directional down lighting was put in above the fireplace to showcase the stone. The walls were painted Greige by Sherwin Williams, and lastly, the floors were updated with new carpet. Local contractors, Fireplace Solution and Michael & Son Services, were hired for the fireplace construction and electrical work.
